What A Gem! January 8, 2006 - Reviewer: Rob from Stoke-on-Trent:
The aerial that comes with it got about 75% of the channels but using my existing
aerial [which is in my loft] produced a solid 100% with excellent quality.
Channels can be ordered by dragging them into position and then saved - so
I did a couple so if I just want radio I open up the radio one, and the TV via
my saved TV one!
Had some blockiness during recording [for a split second, no worse than my
NTL network] and so really impressed - plays on my DVD players around the house
and on my laptop.
Someone has stated that if you disconnect the USB port and reconnect - you
have to completely reinstall the software from the original CD, you don't with
mine - plug and play.
When you save it firstly looks like it will save all of your recordings to
one named file - but it doesn't - just adds a number to whatever you name the
saved file to and so each programme has it's own MPEG file. I recorded a one hour
programme and it was approx 1 gig in size.
What I will try next is to connect my aging VCR via the output RF and see if
it scans that [and then save that as a setting as well - then hopefully I can
put all my old video tapes onto DVD] Hope you understand all this!!
In a nutshell - very pleased with this purchase and would recommend.
Quality product, great price! December 19, 2005 Reviewer: irwinp1 from

Opted for this PC based tuner, rather than a Freeview box, and wasn't quite
sure what to expect, for the price, but this is great - it's a Freeview box and
HD Recorder in one.
The picture quality is great - although I do run it from an external aerial.
The software is reasonably fully featured, if a little "clunky", and lacking in
refinement. Software install was easy - but the error messages are a little unnerving
if you don't read the manual beforehand.
Configuration was simple, although some identified channel names don't seem
to tie up with the Freeview package. Contrary to some comments, you can order
the channels, by dragging and dropping them within the set up screen - it's all
detailed in the manual.
I've not tried the remote control that comes with the tuner, nor fathomed how
the interactive functionality ("Press the Red Button now") is accessed.
Only annoyance after a few days running, is that you need a powerful processor
to have the TV or radio running successfully in the background - on my reasonably
upto date laptop, it doesn't multi-task well with other processor intensive activities
like net surfing.
