Lundy Island
The Island of Lundy lies in the Bristol Channel off the North West coast of Devon. It is approximately 3 miles long and half a mile in breadth at its widest. The name Lundy comes from two old Norse words "lund" meaning (puffin) and "ey" (island). The Island is mostly granite with cliffs on all sides protecting it from the sea and making it an impressive rock-climbing coastline. Undisturbed by cars, amenities on the Lundy include the Marisco Tavern, church and village shop. Other activities on the island include walking, snorkelling and diving.Description Authored by: DL, Devon
