A word From Prebendary Michael Hart 'August 2005'

From Prebendary Michael Hart 'August 2005'

I am grateful for this opportunity to send a message of greetings to the parishioners of St Andrew , Exwick as I prepare to take on the responsibility of Priest-in-Charge of the parish from September 13th and to say how much I and Fr Colin Fletcher are looking forward to ministering to you all as he takes responsibility for the every day running of the parish.

From mid September we shall have six churches to care for St Michael, St Lawrence, St Paul, St Clare Livery Dole, St Mary Steps and St Andrew so I am sure that you will appreciate that there will have to be some changes to service timings.

In addition we continue to have weekly pastoral responsibility in the Nuffield Hospital, nursing and retirement homes, and the three church schools in Heavitree. I can assure you that we are not afraid of hard work in the Heavitree team ministry but we shall now have four stipendiary clergy to share this work load. It is encouraging to know that we may call upon the assistance of several retired clergy from time to time especially for holidays and occasions of sickness.

After full discussions amongst the staff of the team and with your churchwardens I am now able to give you the outline plan for the weekly programme at Exwick from Sunday September 18th as follows :-

Sundays

The Holy Eucharist 8.00 a.m. 2nd Sunday of the month only in traditional language.

Sung Eucharist 9.30 a.m. using traditional language on the 1st Sunday of the month.

Tuesdays

The Holy Eucharist 10.00 a.m.

Saturdays

The Holy Eucharist 11.00a.m. using traditional language, mainly for those people who have been used to the traditional language Eucharist on Sundays at 8.00 a.m. However, everyone is most welcome to attend.

Parish Office every Saturday at 11.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Banns/ Baptisms/ Wedding rehearsals on Saturdays at 12 noon.

Confessions by appointment with Fr Colin.

I hope that this weekly programme will meet the immediate pastoral and everyday business needs of the parish. It will obviously take a little time for all of us to get used to the new situation and we will do all we can from the staff of the team to listen and take account of the concerns of the people of St Andrew’s parish.

May God bless us all as we begin a new chapter together.
Yours sincerely
Michael Hart
